Coffee at midnight. Shiok! Qping would never dare to, cos she'll end up wide-eyed awake till 6am. Yeah, but for me coffee at night is just shiok.. It does keep me awake a little, but it's not that effective on me anymore. Which is a good thing, I can drink it for kicks.
Got a really great cup of kopi from the food court opposite my place. Best 70 cents I ever spent. The auntie making the kopi was a bit blur: I ordered takeaway but she made a cup, so that had to go to the uncle behind me. Turned out that was the last cup of the batch, and I had to wait for her to make a new batch. I seriously did not mind waiting, man! For the first cup out of a fresh batch of kopi? Yeah, I'll wait ... I'm sipping it as I type this ... Aaaahhhhh... shiok! I love all the espresso stuff, but really, a good good cup of kopi beats any latte hands down ...
Anyway, the food court was opened just recently. Best thing that happened around here for ages. I remember when I first moved in 13 years ago, I had this really wonderful view from my 10th floor balcony. A view that stretched all the way to the horizon - which in this case is the low-rise Jurong Industrial Estate. The land right across the road was grassland. Really nice pastures, but not for grazing nor golf, but some Singtel radio stuff. Around 5 or 6 years ago, that gave way to .... Xinling's house! Shufen's, Catherine's, Xiaoli's house! Meiyan's house!

Well well ... there goes my view. So up came an entire HDB estate. Really, an entire estate. All the 6xx block numbers in the Jurong West area. Apparently, they overbuilt. Because there are still entire blocks left unoccupied. Oops. Well, it kind of heralded the era when you did not have to queue for a flat (do people nowadays still remember this phrase "queue for a flat"?) and have to settle for whatever HDB allocates to you. Here is the era when you could actually walk-in and book a specific unit, just like buying a condo apartment. Hmmm...

So anyway, there's this 24hr coffeeshop around the corner, near Meiyan's place that I've only been to about 4 or 5 times, mostly within the last 2 months. It's nice to have a makan place around, especially a supper place, but that one is really a bit of a walk. So that's why I say that new food court across the road is the best thing to happen around here in ages. Even if it isn't 24hr. Oh, the next big thing that's gonna happen? 7-eleven across the road. And then after that? Giant Hypermart.

Where have they been all these 13 years? Oh well, better late than never. Yay, now I only have transport to complain about!
