Eventful day

Quite an eventful day. Went back to Chinese High in the morning, together with Jiaxiang. I haven't been back for a number of years, since entering the army. So I wasn't surprised to discover that many things had changed. I'm too lazy to elaborate on them but here are a few, briefly.

  • Many teachers have left. Ms Loh (Sec 2 Maths), Mr Kwa (Upp. Sec Maths), Mrs Hai To (Upp. Sec Chinese) and probably some others I might not have noticed.

  • Apparently, Ms Kee (Low. Sec Chinese) has gotten married and even had a child! Didn't get to see her but saw the photo of her and her baby on her laptop wallpaper. Could be a nephew but I think there is this look on her face that looks quite motherly. =P

  • Ms Gwee (Upp. Sec Geog) looks a little older. Hmm, but she's still the same. I really liked this teacher - she's the type of teacher that can relate to her students as a friend (despite an approx. 10yr age difference). It's enjoyable chatting with her - casual and not cordial.

  • Mdm Tan (GEP Specialist) has long hair now!! I'm really grateful to this teacher. She never taught me personally, but she oversaw the GEP students. Haha, the horrible student that I was, I constantly gave my teachers trouble (only academically! I score well on Conduct... =) Mdm Tan not only counselled me but 'forced' me to study. I believe that without her guidance, I wouldn't have done as well for the O's as I did (10 points actually)

Some other things are much the same. Cheryl Wong still looks cute. Huang Miao Ying still looks pretty. Charles Low (Sec 3 Eng) still looks ...well, somewhat on the plump side. The infrastructure looks the same, and the best part is how well-maintained it all looks, considering it's been about 11 years since most of the buildings were built. Of course, the buildings on the hill are decades-old but they got a makeover about 6 years ago. Generally, the school is much the same but seems to have progressed much through the years. Hopefully, it will go on to scale new heights with the new Integrated Programme.

In the afternoon, I went out with James, Hansiong and Chuzheng. Army friends. Haven't met up for some time (with the exception of James). We had lunch at Holland V, played pool at Beauty World ($22 bill! How long did we play?). I think the best part was dinner at the Beauty World food center. We chose this table at the open-air 'balcony' area so we could get fresh air (when HS isn't smoking ... =P) and enjoy the sunset view. We all had mixed grill for dinner. It was in the 'traditional' western food style and the serving was big! All for the grand sum of $5.50... =)

Back in PGP at night, KC, Qiaoping and I checked out the new cafe. The decor struck me as nice and pleasing although the menu was placed so high above the counter that you might get a strained neck trying to read it. Best of all, there's a coin-operated pool table. =)

By the way, Happy New Year, people!!
